Aaron Paul (Jesse from Breaking Bad) wins the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor

Monday Morning Awesome: Aaron Paul, last night after winning an Emmy for Breaking Bad. Last night Aaron Paul won his second Emmy for his portrayal as Jesse Pinkman on AMC’s Breaking Bad.  He tearfully thanked Series creator Vince Gilligan for not killing off his character earlier in the series.  Aaron Paul’s was the only win for Breaking Bad out of the show’s seven nominations this year. Video of his acceptance, see if before it gets pulled.

Battle Royale coming to the US in the form of a TV show

https://i2.wp.com/www.animenation.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/battle-royale-movie.jpg

If you haven’t seen the film Battle Royale, you’re probably not worth knowing, but regardless, I’ll fill you in so that you can become a decent person. Battle Royale is a Japanese film about a ninth grade class that is thrown onto an island and forced to kill each other as a part of a new government act, the Battle Royale Act. Now the movie is mostly over the top violence with some seriously ridiculous gore (see image below).

Now when I first read that Battle Royale would be coming to the US via a new TV show, I thought we were in for a US version of the Hunger Games, but realized that we’re probably not ready for broadcast television massacres. The show won’t be a reality TV show, instead, The CW (yes, I’m well aware that The CW typically pumps out sparkly vampires and emotion teenage dramas that are complete shit but I want to give them a chance to not completely fuck this one up like they do with 96% of their programming just because I have such an affinity for Battle Royal) wants to bring the film to the small screen in the version of a several season program. I don’t know how they could stretch it out over multiple seasons being that most of the kids will be killed off pretty quickly if it’s anything like the film, but who knows. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens to a cult-gore classic when its comes to primetime broadcast TV. I’m guessing it will be a watered-down, much less interesting and intriguing version that will not hold a light to the original film, the sequel maybe, but not the original.
