Disney plans to release one Star Wars film a year starting in 2015

So everybody figured that Disney wouldn’t only make Star Wars VII. I mean the amount they paid for the franchise is absurd and they are definitely planning on getting their moneys worth. They just announced that every summer starting in 2015, a new Star Wars will be released. If you weren’t sure that Disney was going to ruin the franchise, you probably should be now. How much is too much? We’ll see.

These annual releases will include the other two movies in the new trilogy and several standalone films, which will focus on specific characters from the Star Wars franchise.

The main episodes — VIII and IX — will be released every other summer and a standalone movie will be released during the off years, film sites reported when the news broke during a CinemaCon session in Las Vegas. CinemaCon brings together movie theater owners.

J.J. Abrams, director of the latest Star Trek movies, will direct Star Wars: Episode VII, Disney and Lucasfilm announced on StarWars.com in January. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the standalone films in February, adding that “They are not part of the overall saga.”

New images and plot info from upcoming Monsters Inc. prequel “Monster University”

A few new images have been leaked. Enjoy. And read/watch/check out the website for Monsters University HERE

Monsters University Mike
Monsters U EW Prank

This is roughly around the time Mike and Sulley meet. They’re at a fraternity party, and this is Mike and Sulley getting off on the wrong foot a little bit….[The red creature in Sulley’s hands] is the monster equivalent of a farm animal. It is not a student. This is part of a college prank.

This next bit about a part of the plot may have some SPOILERS but it comes from somebody who got a sneak peek at a small part of the film.

The set up, according to Production Designer Ricky Nierva, is Mike and Sulley are at college both trying to become scarers. They quickly become rivals, which gets them kicked out of the program and the only way back in is to join a frat and compete in The Scare Games. And so begins the clip.

Mike and Sulley show up at a very quaint looking frat house with the Greek letters “OK” outside of it, standing for Oozma Kappa. They walk in, meet their new brothers and it’s immediately evident these aren’t the cool kids. They drink hot cocoa, call their living room “Party Central,” keep dream journals, they aren’t popular. There’s Don Carlton, a “mature student” who heads back to college after being laid off at his job, Terry & Terri, a pair of embarrassing Siamese twins, Squishy, a blobby guy who seems nice but says no one like him and Art, a “new age philosophy major,” who looks like a fluffy, flexible letter W. Each introduces themselves to Mike and Sulley and express their individual excitement of finally having new friends. It’s also pretty obvious these are not the best people to compete in the Scare Games with. Mike and Sulley, both disappointed at the prospect, are shown to their room – a very small bunk bed situation – when the lights go out.

Exploring what the problem is, they see a light in the basement. They walk down to find a frightening initiation ritual about to commence. Things are going well until the lights flip on. Everyone is disappointed and mad and we realize this frat house isn’t just a frat house. I won’t spoil the joke.

First Trailer for “Oz The Great and Powerful”

Last week I posted THIS poster that had been released to promote James Franco’s next film, “Oz the Great and Powerful.” A couple days ago the trailer was released, and it looks, well, weird and magical.

In the upcoming prequel to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, James Franco stars as Oscar Diggs, “a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics” who finds himself in the Land of Oz, where he thinks he’s hit the jackpot. That is, until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who aren’t convinced he’s the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

HULK GET OWN TV SHOW!

With The Avengers having smashed through the $1 billion mark, ABC is very much dedicated to bringing the Hulk back to TV, though it probably won’t happen until next year. The past few years have seen a number of comic book properties trying to make it on television, with many of them failing, but will Hulk be a SMASH?

The network’s entertainment president told reporters Tuesday during a conference call ahead of his formal upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers in New York that he’d still like to “see some Marvel projects come to television.”

“Hulk is in development,” he confirmed. “It wasn’t going to be ready this season but we hope it’s going to be ready for next season.” Oscar nominee Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labrynth) is developing the project for the Disney-owned network after ABC’s parent company purchased Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion in late 2009.

Disneyland Paris will get a ‘Star Wars Land’ in 2015, buy your tickets now.

When it first opened in 1992, Disneyland Paris was a bit of a joke and was a money pit of a project for Disney for a while. By now, things have picked up and Disneyland Paris is doing pretty well, and in 2015, they’ll be getting a Star Wars Land park. Okay, so I’ve gotten used to Lucas shitting all over the franchise, but I’d still love to see a Star Wars park in the US. All we get is Star Tours and a dancing Darth Vader.

The rumor first sprouted up on some Disneyland Paris Forums and has now been written about in detail by the Disney and More Blog. That writer claims to have confirmation that the Imagineers are indeed working on a more expansive Star Wars experience to surround the new Star Tours including a Jedi Academy, and possibly an eatery that looks like Mos Eisley Cantina, just to start. This will all take place in the Discoverland section of the park, taking over the current Captain Eo theater and its surrounding areas.

Another clue reported on at Disney and More is that the CEO of Disneyland Paris, Philippe Gas, said a few years back that the Star Tours upgrade would be late coming to the park because of increased costs. This confused many fans at the time because all the other parks are getting it but, with these rumors, maybe a light has been shined on his true meaning.
